Post by RandTMcKnight »

I woke up to skiff here also. I'm jealous that your season is open and ours isn't. Ours doesn't open until Dec. 1st. My hounds are at the end of their chain beggin to go. They seem to think when there's snow it's time to go.

A man is not very smart that can,t find his wife 2 jobs.
And any wife should be able to support her man and a pack of hounds.

Never shock your dog off bad game
untill he knows what good game is.

No snow here
Wind blowing hard every night
Had good running till the wind came.
Cats are walking now. If cats not walking, u can,t get a race no matter where u go.
I found cats close to home that I never new were that many there.
One little pocket around a lake.
Corn & milo & soybeans are not harvested yet.
Hard to catch them cats in the grain fields.
Dogs can smell them good, & have a good race,
but is is so thick, dogs just can get up on them.
I hope to do better after the grain is harvested
Cats won,t have as much cover in this open country.

10-29-09
big rain last night
Harvesting grain is getting bad, can,t get in the fields , getting late.
Be good cat chaseing in a couple of days if wind dies.
Good hunting to all

I completely understand the feeling, its hard to beat a fresh skiff of snow, good for tracking and easy to get around in! Well no snow here, but at work I ran into tree lions (must have been a female with grown kittens as they all looked about the same size) on a dirt road, I turned around and started back to town to get my dogs(1.5 hours out), but reality set in and I realized my boss would probably not understand :( . I got a picture with my cell phone but you can hardly make out anything.

No Snow in AR, just lots of RAIN! On track for the most Rain on record. Roads washed out everywhere, Creeks out and backed up.. almost as much water as Florida.

Dad and I went down to Glen Rybards last night to make a hunt with his Clay Hounds. East Wind blowing 10 to 15 mph...we should have stayed home as the Cat were stirring and the Hounds could not smell. We ran three probably put one in a tree after a 25 min race. Threw away the other Races when the Cat stopped running and went to walking. Sounds silly I know, but when the Cat quits being scared and starts to think..hits a road..goes in water.. or just pulls some GOOD CAT TRICKS the Race is over. Good training session for the young Hounds as it makes them try harder to find Ole Shorttail!

Good Running to All!

I had a nasty horrible morning today. Woke up to 14f with 4 inches of snow and a few more inches of snow to come with a biting wind also.

Yeah, I know what it is like to be sitting at home with lots of snow and dogs crying to get out. I havebeen plowing snow in Cheyenne for the last 30hours, try to take advantage of the snow since I can't hunt.
