4 days ago I notice 2 scabs on my 12 week old pups hind leg they were very small and blue colored and located low near where his dew claw would be. (Not even like a snake bite). The next day he was holding the foot up and I looked him over and noticed the blue tinted scabs had spread to the bottom of his foot ( not connected to the others) in between his toes and his main pad. In between these scabs the skin was yellowy white (He is a black and tan) like the color of pus, the scabs were as hard as a rock and when I removed a couple of them they did not bleed. His entire foot is very tender and touching puts him in extreme pain. I put some peroxide on it and it foamed like a science fair volcano. I cleaned it and put neosporin on it. I figured it was some crazy infection and hoped that would help. I also started him on cipro as an antibiotic. The nest day he would not let the foot get near the ground and the front one on the same side had these scabs on it too with the same blue color and yellowy white skin. I don't no what to do I have put bedodyne on the feet and neosporin and given antibiotics so I am lost. It might be some sort of a fungus?
Have any of you ever heard of anything like this. The houndsmen I have shown it to range from 25 to 65 and none of them have seen it before. I will try to get picture for reference. Any help will be greatly apprectiated. I may have to take him to the vet but the last several skin conditions I took to the vet they were clueless and ran four or five 50-75 dollar tests that came back negative.
PS His foot smells like a dead animal.

please let us know when you find out. Ive never seen or heard of anything like that. My only guess would be a fungus like you said. The only thing that I can think of that is blue would be the blue crust that comes out of old car batteries when they sit out.

Re: Strange foot problem with pup?
He seems to be getting better. The first foot is not showing any signs of it and the second foot is only showing the scabs but does not seem to be sore. I don't know what the cure was I used everything I could come up with and he is feling fine now if the remaining scabs will go away.
