That makes the grand total of 4 out of 5 bears caught, in 4 days of hunting (had to have one day of rest... us not the dogs, lol)
This morning could have been better. Turned dogs down on an old track, ended up all dogs went one way, Aspen went another. They were trailing along, not doing a whole lot, while we were trying to figure which of them were going the wrong way... Aspen had gone with the dogs at first, but then came back and went the oposite direction, so we were thinking the others were on back track... But after about 20 minutes, we realized we were just on two seperate bear.
The group of dogs jumped, and headed out. We decided to call Aspen off, and go with the others... After a LONG race, it jumping at least one time, we got it stopped in one of the least favorable places to walk....
On the way out, figured we'd box and see what we might have stirred up, seeing the dogs had gone through just about every canyon around. After a long while, we got that blow up strike we were looking for. Turned loose, and it was on and jumped. We kept on top and they stayed pretty close, heading up a creek. After a 15-20 minute race, we stopped to listen and heard Aspen, and she was parked doing what she does best. It wasn't long and they were all telling us about it... Nice walk, and another 150# or so bear in one of the biggest trees in the forest...
