Dont they contradict themselves here:

"Eight states (Alaska, Arizona, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Washington and Wyoming) even allow the hound hunting of bears in the spring, when cubs are still nursing and dependant on their mothers. Cubs may easily be killed by the hounds or, when their mother is killed, the cubs are left to die."

"Where is Hound Hunting Legal?

Hound hunting of bears is illegal in two thirds of the states. Of the 28 states that allow bear hunting, 17 allow hunting them with hounds.

States Where Hound Hunting is Legal

Alaska
Arizona
California
Georgia
Idaho
Maine

Michigan
Nevada
New Mexico
North Carolina
South Carolina
Tennessee
Utah
Vermont
Virginia
West Virginia
Wisconsin

Deer hounding is only permitted in ten states, California, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia."

It seems to me they state that you can hunt with hounds in Oregon, Montana and Washington (who all dont allow the hunting of hounds on bears) in the spring after bears, but later go on to show that they do not allow the hunting of hounds for the purpose of killing or chasing bears.....?

The humane society was turned down by the voters in Maine a few years ago trying to ban bearhunting with hounds. The sad part is thru thier lies they are very well funded.I would not trust them for anything. Their bottom lone is "ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY"

I saw this the other day also and sent this e-mail to them to see what they had to say.She argued it didn't say this at first. after I copied it off there site she hasn't gotten back to me.

I am sorry but I don't think that I am the one who is confused I copied this directly off you web site and it clearly states what you said it doesn't. I don't know what would be worse lieing or just not doing the reaserch If you made this mistake how many more are there.Maybe if you took the time to look hound hunting over completley even you might not think it is so bad.
FACT SHEET ON HOUND HUNTING
Killing Cubs

Eight states (Alaska, Arizona, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Washington and Wyoming) even allow the hound hunting of bears in the spring, when cubs are still nursing and dependant on their mothers. Cubs may easily be killed by the hounds or, when their mother is killed, the cubs are left to die.

Mr Caswell,

I’m sorry for the confusion, but our website does not state that Montana has a spring bear hounding season. Our website clearly states that the hound hunting of bears is not permitted in Montana: http://www.hsus.org/web-files/PDF/hunti ... unding.pdf. However, our website does state that the hunting of bears is permitted in the spring, which is extremely unfortunate due to the high rate of orphaned cubs associated with the practice.

I was reading your secrewed up web site and you said montana has a spring hound season for bears you might want to do a little more research montana has NO bear season with dogs at all and never has as long as I have been hunting,Also hunting with dogs is not about killing at all.I have lion hounds and tree 30 or more lions every year and have never killed or harmed any lions and most of the houndsman I know are the same way.If you have any questions or would like to go along and see the truth about hound hunting feel free to e-mail me I would be glad to help. Thanks Ian

These people are stupid and need to realize that most people that bear hunt hunt to get meat in the freezer or at least i do and hound hunting is just a way to determine size and whether it is big enough to kill and the sex of the bear or other animal so that we are not killing cubs and females they make me so mad

You fellows need to do some research on these wacko's like we did here in Idaho when we were fighting prop 2. They are also against bird dog hunting, retreiving, herding with dogs, guard dogs, confining dogs to chains, kennels, ect. They are anti ranching, horse ownership, county fairs, rodeo's, 4-H, captive birds and fish. Anti use of animals for any profit by humans, fishing, trapping, ect. ect. ect.
It isn't about money either. It is a religion that blames humanity for all the ills of the world and places the status of deity upon animals, just as has been done in India and that region of the world for centuries. Animals are on the top of the ladder while humans are on the bottom rung. Read some of their literature, you want believe your eyes. Statements made to the effect, "I would rather spare the life of an earthworm, than that of a human being".
Common sense is wasted on any arguement with them as they are basically void of what we would call "common sense". Look at the text books being issued to your children. Talk to some teachers about hunting, fishing, trapping, and see the reaction generated.
Let your children watch "Nickelodeon channel" and you deserve to lose your hunting rights.
The only way to defeat these basket cases, is to educate the non hunting public to their true agendia and goals. Combine that with a united front from all the sporting, ranching, farming, and outsdoorsmen, and they can and will be kept at bay. The goal is, to stop all uses of animals for pleasure and profit, through the means of "divide and conquer".
When one fails to support another because he uses the natural resources in a different mannet than you do, you are stabbing yourself in the back. The way you do it will be the next avenue that is targeted.

And their president was quoted as saying, " even end the use of animals as pets".

And yet these people are allowed to have children!

That is a totally legit lawsuit. Got me thinking about what really does happen. Even though I dont do anything they listed I know others do. About the article though some of it definitely looks a little off but the only think that annoys me about it is I have seen people killing bear cubs with their dogs on purpose to train them. Pissed me off for sure.

Gkckak: Anyone that kills bear cubs for training purposes is neither a hunter nor houndsman. Rather they are complete Aholes  i can absolutely see NO NEED to do that . A bayed mean bear I have issues with .But much rather ENJOY the chase and let live to run another day.
