Good tom

Post by chilcotin hillbilly »

I put Burger and Rudy down on last nights track. They took it 3.5 miles before the jump.I walked in my 5 month old walker, we were just getting to the tree and ol Thomas jumped, a 5 minute bayup and he treed again. That got Zoey charged up, although she wisely kept her distance. At the tree it took a while for her to figure out what is up but then she saw him move, after that she treed hard. A good tom to bad I never had a hunter on this one.

You gotta love it when those brutes come down and give the hounds a little more fun don't you? A couple weeks back I went lion hunting and had a split race, three dogs treed this nice tom and two others treed a bitch lion. Only thing I could figure was that tom trailed into a bitch lion kill and the dogs split. Anyway, my Maverick plott dog is that black blur that just was trying to get a little butt hair...........

Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, I know the feeling. Its nice when a hunter is along when a good tom is put up. But it is also nice to enjoy the experience you had between you and your hounds. What a day for the pup. Congratulations!

There is a ton of satisfaction in putting a brute lion in the tree, being there alone and choosing to turn on the video camera rather than knock him out of the tree. Anybody can pull a trigger on a treed cat, but it takes a man or woman who has been to lots of trees, killed plenty of lions, and has gained alot of respect for the big cat to choose to walk away.............

Real nice tom! looked outside a few minutes ago and the snow was coming down, I don't know what we will end up with by morning, it won't matter anyway other than I've got to travel in it. I have a young dog I'm really looking forward to getting bent and I have a couple pups to start, caught a nice tom myself on Sunday in the dirt and with the deer being in full rut I was happy to see my young female at the tree, treeing her heart out.

Keep the stories and pictures coming good job and good luck!

Off to a great start. Was really good to chat with you on the side of the road a couple a weeks ago. I sold all of my pups and ended up keeping two females. My brother and I may be in the area in February so I'll get in contact with you a couple of weeks before. Good luck with the rest of the year. :D
