Topper pups

[Hi Tech]

Twist has asked me to post a picture of the pup I got from him back in June. She is out of his Dot female and Topper. He has also asked me to tell the good and the bad with my dog, so here goes.
She is 7 months old as of the 6th of this month. She is put up on legs good, but she is not overly big and weighs around 35pds. I do like her demeanor, she is very well behaved for her age, but if you put the time into them they should be! She has been trailing drags since she was 3 months old and she can trail and tree a release coon by herself, without help.
At this age other than being a little mouthy at times (kennel, truck), which I work on each time, I don’t see any habits or traits that I can’t live with. Our season opens Monday and I will be taking her along every other day or so, I will keep you posted as things progress. Thanks Andy, for the chance to have a well bred pup that I am excited to put in the woods!
After reading Ethan's post I have to add one thing. Nellie is not that gritty, she likes to get back and bay, but I don't mind that a bit.

Look at those eyes! She is just begging to go chase a cat and that is where all the energy will be directed. A dandy for sure, now all she needs is hunting and exposure.

Andy, yeah she is a little on the healthy side, our deer season is in and putting a hound in the woods is suicide. She has good speed, don’t know if it’s blinding yet or not. Lol. Very athletic, intelligent, and quick learner. Her mouth was high pitched, but now it has changed to a rough short chop, but changes over nice at the tree.

That's a great looking pup! thanks for the pics and update, and it's neat to see what green grass looks like!
I finally got around to taking new pictures of Goose. He is trailing very well, but I had to tie him hard and fast in order to take decent pictures. He has been on one more lion trail since I last posted, we did not catch, Goose just hung in there and worked hard. All of the handling and manners are improving, and we are getting more miles on him.

Here are some pictures of Tuff as he progressed through the summer and how he has changed and grown using Mike Leonard's
pup training method going from hot dogs to Grawes training scents and coons! We can't wait to get him on a real cat! It's
been fun to watch this pup grown and learn. He is a quick learner; he started drifting scent at 3 months old. As we are still
learning also, in my opinion he is doing very well. Enjoy the pictures (maybe there are too many, but oh well).

Hey, guys them are some great looking pups. You all will have a blast this cat season as they will be at the perfect age. Keep me posted with thier catches and progress. Really enjoy the pictures. Ric, Tuff looks like a young version of old Topper in that last picture. later, Andy

Goose made it to his 2nd and 3rd lion trees, (we found a kill, so same cat but 2 different trees) he is hunting hard for tracks when free cast, and I've put him down as a start dog on snow tracks. The lion volunteered to come down and meet the dogs once, which made for some great video- Goose loves a big cat on the ground. We hunted him hard 4 out of the last 5 days and he is holding up well in all aspects. We are watching it snow right now so hopefully more cat tracks are in his near future, and that lion was caught and released, maybe we can find him again!

Ethan, great pictures and story. That is pretty impressive for a 7 month old to be starting the tracks. He is on his way to being an outstanding hound, how is he doing at the tree? Keep me posted. later, Andy

Goose has always been in with one or two more experienced dogs when starting tracks, he's done extremely well, just not been given the chance to start by himself (yet). He trees very well, not too sure yet just how well he is locating on his own. He's definitely still a puppy and very excited by the other dogs treeing, not always standing on the tree, but he never wanders away.

Andy, Ethan we just finished our first week of bear season and Nellie made her first short race. Treed a small one and she did good on it. She is going to be an outstanding tree dog. I'll keep you posted as the season continues.
