Only had two free days this week so at the last minute I loaded up and headed out. Started the hunt off seein a nice one top out over a ridge through the spotting scope, but kept looking. Shortly after seeing that decent one, I proceeded to bump the window down button, and it automatically rolled all the way down, spitting my Zeiss spotting scope out the window just in time for the back tire to run over it. Similar to running over an egg, lots of pieces later and no good optics, I was pretty down about my odds. Hunted the rest of the day and saw that buck again about 150 yrds away, but he was only a big 3, so I let him slide, that was the biggest one of the first day. Second day had me looking for that big 3 again, figured that was as good as I was gonna find. let a 3x4 slide that just wasn't quite there yet, and headed to a different drainage, thinking that i should just call it a bust and head home. Went to a real remote part of the area with no roads and headed in, found this guy with two does hiding out where there was no hunting pressure, makes sense. Took him to my buddy's taxidermy shop and put a tape to him, 180 6/8. Deep forks really helped his score. Not the gnarly monster, but a real pretty buck i think.
