Re: magnets
Klines!
That's what I use, they work amazing, and if you throw them on the hood like we do when you turn collars on, they will never fall off!
Just watch, they are popular for sticky fingered SOBs lol.

Re: magnets
if you have a collar that needs a stronger magnet- can get rare earth magnets on ebay ---this is the link
http://stores.ebay.com/Rare-Earth-Neody ... Z1QQ_sopZ3
they are STRONG--
maybe too strong to use on some collars ----
i had some very old collars quit working when i first started using them
- not sure if it was the magnets or just coincidence -or maybe old age
, been using them , last couple years with no problem with any newer collars --
stick them on your hood and you almost need tools to get them off
if you dont use ebay,, heres the place i got them

Re: magnets
I used to have the same trouble with my magnet from johnson, never with my wildlife magnets. One of my hounds happend to chew through my cb antenna cable last year, and ruin it, so i took the magnet off the bottom of the antenna, and now when I take my magnets out my collar I just throw them on the cb magnet, and put it in the ash tray of my truck, (i dont smoke so it the ash tray did finally come in handy) for safe riding, and havent had a week magnet since, even rubbed some old magnets on it and made them strong enough to work again.
You can also take a metal coat hanger, cut it and straighten it out, then coil the middle of it around the magnet 3-4 times and touch the ends of the wire to a car battery or any electric source hold for a few seconds and it will remagnitize as well.

Re: magnets
Another thing you might check with the Johnson collars is how well the magnet slot is shaped. I had that trouble on a couple Johnson collars once, got to looking and the resin was not ground out very well. It was like it was just enough to keep the magnet away from the switch to keep it from fully shutting off sometimes. I took a dremmel (sp?) tool and ground a little more of the resin out and didn't have a problem after that. That is also the reason that those are the only Johnson collars I will ever have, and why I will ONLY run Kleins from here on out. Much better quality and workmanship!!!! Hope this helps and maybe saves ya a couple bucks.
