Well that would be a long story. I woud say old Jude was the nicest to watch work out a track, none of this running around once she found a track. A slow walk and if she over shot a track or two she would back up,find the track and move on.Other hounds would be running all over the place but she never got two worked up, just kept working at her own speed. And she always got to the tree. My Nelly 2 was a dandy at six month. I had never seen a pup out work 5 year old hounds before. She was an out standing hound and I bred her on her second heat,to make sure I would not lose the blood. Then she died on a hunt four month later, along with two others. But her pups blood still work out cat tracks . Jack

I can see it in her eyes. That kind of hound is my favorite.

That depends what the weather is, and has been doing the last few days, and how old the cat is. I took a 3-4 year old tom after 36 hours, and thats a long time on our ground.

Yep, -30 to -40 degress is too cold for me! I've been froze to the bone too many times while I was growing up in northern Michigan.

Would you be willing to tell us a little story about the smartest wolf you ever caught?

I never trapped wolves, poison ( 1080)and coyote getters yes. After the big kill from 56-62 we had next to no wolves to trap. But they are back and my son and Grand son are looking after them, with traps.

To make a job of telling a story of a hunt would take me some time, and a few pages. Some time the first of the new year. But if you cant wait you could send for a book, I think you would find some of the hunts in the book interesting. Sorry Jack

You cant trust anyone any more, hiding behind a funny name. It was only 49 miles. I think that would be a good story for the next book. That was a long week.
