Another little one.....

Post by U.R.E. »

I guess I need to make some adjustments to my dogs collars. They must be set on 10-12 pounders not 25 plus.

Our wood pile took a hit last week with all the cold weather so we had to use one of our hunting days to get the wood in. That left us with only Sunday to hunt this weekend.

We hunted a private road that is surrounded by public land first. We had a 10 minute race that ended about 25 yards from the road. I had a suspicion that it was a heavier cat than we where looking for. It turned out to be just that so we got out of that country.

We finally got another track started off a strike. I only let my two young dogs off to see if they could get it done without Penni. They trailed it for about 30 minute before they got it jumped. It made one tight loop on them then treed solid about 25 yards from the road. ( I guess I have that option set right on their collar).

We messed with another track but couldn't get it going dispite the 2 hours we put into trying. I at least got to see it's track and it was a lot nicer cat than we have been treeing.

That's ok, Our collars settings are completely Broken... The must have been set to Den stump in the bottom of a steep canyon... :) That's always nice!
We Did get to watch a yote cross the road without the dogs seeing it, and had to Tune them up... (They were pretty wound up and were sure going to take it...?!?!?)
So that was a big plus, that we got ahead of that Train wreck..

Im always Glad to see my dogs catch a little one it takes A better cold trailing dog to catch a 10 pounder. Seems like the bigger the cat the easier to catch
