I cant telll you the whole story, but in short When I got the call on Sturday night when the loggers came to town. They said a big cougar had been around all week. When I got to the area it looked like the cat had gone a day or two before. I spent much of the day trying to find where he had gone, or find his kill. Next morning I started on his trail, by 3pm he had made a large circle and I was back to about a mile from the Hi way, left the track and got home by 7. Next morning I cut in from the Hi was about 4 mile from his track thinking I could cut the track. Well only two hundred yards in I hit the track and fallowed all day. In that part of the world at that time no roads had been cut in and if the cat had of took off west it was fifty miles to the next road.Being two days behind I held the hounds.I did the same thing for 5 days, moving north within 5 miles of the hi way, making it home as it was the 25 of Jan. 1956 at 20 below in the day time and much colder at night. So I chose to snowshoe that extra hour or tow to stay in a warm bed. Sunday afternoon he tried to make a kill for the firs time in a week.I was closing in on him and at about 3 we jumped him, treed shot and got home after 9 that night. The tom was about 190 lbs.

I will send for the book, and sure glad to hear your getting along and doing good. I still have a little of that old blood that you brought up there, and the greatest hound I have ever owned or ever even witnessed Big John had Lay breeding behind him. TGhe real deal!

Hopeyou hang around with us a bit and share some stories , wisdom and wit. Lord knows in these days we need it.

I know I got a letter from Chicago to Ark less than 700 miles, and it took 9 days you could bet that on a mule.

I went to the post office to day and ask the lady that checked in my letter to you, she said being I didn't register it they had no way of tracing, but being I put in cash those
border[customs] could tell they were money in there and they took it out and threw the letter away. but to my advantage it has been real snowy up there and it could be held up.
next time I will put in a check and you can put deposit only or I will send you a money order.
