Gotta love it when you find a little masked bandit on your own property eh Ryan?

Wouldn't be such a big deal if we had coon like they do over east, but we only find a few every now and then 'round here.

Hope all is well.

Ryan,

Been hunting pretty hard out at the lake where you and I hunted while you were here. It has been tough. Coons are sparse at best. I made a few trees now and then, mite have been lay up or den trees, but I couldn't find eyes up there. Not making excuses for my dogs at all, but they don't have that happen much - especially out there, so I was stumped.

I been hunting with a buddy lately and I think that is putting me and my dogs to the test. I am new enough to this that I don't know how to teach someone else how to do it and how to read his dogs. I enjoy hunting with him and we are both learning a lot.

The other night we were out in the pouring down rain and come up slick treed again, scent was everywhere and the dogs locked up on this tree. So we pulled all of them back but my little white and red dog and gave her the time to figure it out. Each time she would come back to that same tree I would tell her to get out there and find it. She did finally and even in all that rain she found the right tree and had the meat. I was pretty darn happy with her that night. Was high fives all around, over one little coon is all. It was kinda funny. But I learned a bit about how she works and my buddy got to help figure out a really tough situation. Again, we learned a bit. Should have used the camera, I always forget to take pictures when I get to the tree.

How you been doing? You getting that puppy out on a coon now and then?
