my personal thoughts are DIAMOND Extreme Athlete.....and i also feed meat. seems to keep them up real good with little clean up. it is a little spendy though 36.00 for a 40lb sack. its worth the money in my opinion.

Find your local feed distributor and buy it wholesale. I'm paying $22 for the same Diamond food delivered to my house. I buy it once a year. I also feed meat along with my dry. Dogs are meat eaters, not corn and wheat eaters. Dry food has NO meat in it. You can usually get meat very cheap if not free. I use Bison mostly but road kill elk or deer would also work great. I'm running about 5 days a week right now and without the meat added, I wouldn't be able to keep the weight on my dogs.

Agreed on the DIAMOND Extreme Athlete. It's the most nutrition per dollar that you can buy as far as I know. There's no corn in it, and the first two ingredients are chicken. We also use it for puppy food once the pups are big enough to chew it.

I buy Canidae and add raw meat 50/50. Canidae has no beet pulp or soy which is a cause of "tortion". However, Canidae does have tomatoe pomace that are toxic. I can 0lny one other that is free of these three saponim carriers , that being Abady, but it is hard to have shipped and very expensive.

I feed BlackGold with great results. Very little clean up and great digestability. Also resonably priced.

I have been around hounds for 45 years, I am currently hunting 4 t0 6 days a week, all day and into the night. I feed the dogs the cats they catch cooked and Black Gold. That is the only dog food that I have found that they hold up on. They are fat right now, I try to keep then that way. They are in shape but fat. If we get cold weather and good hunting they can drop a lot of weight in a few days. I also feed twice a day when they are getting hunted every day. Take care of your dogs and they will take care of you.
