Sorry, We have caught several bear, but things happen before I can get a picture. One day the rain stopped me and another my batteries went dead. It seems since the food is scattered most of the bear have laid down. They are getting harder to come by. Most have been small juvenile males looking for a place to bad down!
Nice pics there Hi-Tech. We've had some nasty weather up in the western part of Va. also. Sounds like your hunting has been the same as ours. The deer hunters had a record bear kill this year and there's not much left here to run. Our little group did tree 3 the first week and took one nice one, 340lbs. Let the other 2 go. Another group near me said that they treed 1 the first day and that is it. They have chased a couple others but no tree on the end. We have very little to eat so I think most bear have probably found a bed. Keep up the pics and good luck.
VBH, yes I hunt around Wytheville and the surrounding counties. JRW, the week didn't end any better. The weather is definitely not cooperating for us. Between the rain, wind and snow we are only getting to hunt a couple days a week. I have talked to several other groups and they aren't having very good luck either. The bowhunters really took a lot of bear in our area. Between that and no food bear are conserving their energy, I guess. Good luck to you’ll this week.
