Which state is best?

Post by 1280 »

Is there a state that a guy could take his hounds for a week and hunt bobcats? A state with alot of bobcats. A state that you don't need a special license and doesn't cost alot to go and hunt them. I want to take a hunting trip just to hunt cats with my hounds. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I know an out of state lisense is not cheap. I just want to go to a state where you don't have to send in for years to draw a tag. I want to go to a state where I can buy a lisense over the counter and be able to hunt cats.

oh in that case. with oregon you send in for your lic. but it doenst take long. east side of state you are allowed 5 cats and west side is unlimited. Lion and bear is prohibited though. The coast would probably be your best bet for coming out of state. i wouldnt depend on the snow to come in eastern oregon. Hasnt for a long time.

Not sure what you mean about taking a test. Unless out of state hunters have to take one for some reason.

reading the regs put out by ODFW it says all first time oregon trappers need to take a test, not sure if this would apply to hound hunters but i'd call ODFW to make damn sure.

If you talk to ODFW you can buy a license to hunt bobcats without taking a test, you only need the test for trapping. If you don't take the test it says *Hunting Only* on your license.

Oregon License just jumped to $350 something for non-residents.

for colorado you need a small game tag thats it. Bobcats are on a low cycle with the rabbits. But you should be able to find a track.
