Doogie, do you know of any dogs of this line (leopard or cross bred) that are being hunted on big game here in the west? I know of a few, but would be interested in learning a few other opinions of their abilities. Thanks for any help! j

from what I know of heres the break down of Jug bred Leopards and Jug bred crossbreeds out west
Jug Bred Leopards
2 in MT, unknown number in CO, unknown number in UT, and 1 in CA
Jug Bred Leopard/Walker Crossbreds
2 in MT, 2 in UT, 2 in NV and 1 in SD
before the switch from the shadetree to the biggamehoundsmen board, the owner of the crossbred dog in SD is the only one that was not a member. I know for sure the owners of the Leopards in MT, UT, and CA and the owners of the 2 crossbreeds in MT are current board members

I have two hounds that have some leopard in them, but not real sure on the lineage. I know that father is a high tan from Chris Todd in S. Arizona. The mom has the leopard in her, but I do not know what else, or where, or how much. What I do know is the dogs are smart, and one of the two I have is really starting to turn it on. The other is a little slower in maturing, but I think both should do ok in the long term. They are only 8 months old, so the jury is still out though.

I have a Jug/Walker cross that I got from John in 2004 as a 3 year old. She was well started, but only used for coon at the time.
Her mother was a direct daughter of Rat-Attack. She looks just like a Walker and has made a great lion hound. This hound is cat crazy and although age is starting to catch up to her she still runs a track well and has always been a stand on the tree slober mouth machine gun chop tree dog. Although I had to correct her a little at first she has been trash free for many years now and I have used her to check on a number of my young dogs. If you ask John about Honey, I am sure he will remember this hound. This is one hound out of the cross you ask about that has made a good Lion dog. I am in Northern New Mexico, so you can add that to the list of Western States these crosses are in.
