01-24-10 cougar

Post by krk hunting »

Well we started out cutting two cougar tracks about 75yrds apart (assuming it was the same cougar) we made an uneducated guess which was the shortest side of the track and needless to say were were wrong. we started the dogs and they took the track very well. After trailing a short 400-500 yrds the trusty garmin showed them treeded just on the other side of the mountain, I looked at my hunting buddies and said something is wrong. I headed around the hill to the canyon they were in and Ken headed over the top he had gotten to them before I did and sure enough they had it caught, but it was not what we were looking for for sure. It was group of javelina. They proceeded to give a good old ass whopping to three dogs, which 2 of the 3 will be out for a few weeks. After gathering the dogs up and heading back out we crossed the cougar track again and found the shorter end of the track and decided to start the other dogs in the right direction. After trailing for a very short distanced they jumped this tom and had him treeded in very short order. To say the least we had a great time and the dogs did a good job. Here is a few pictures of the cougar in the tree and my magic dog that is addicted to javalina aka DESERT DEVILS. Thanks, Ken and Dave for the good time.

Thanks

Great story and pics. get out the super glue as the ears are a long ways from the heart. That is why hounds have ears they sure can take a beatin. A hound with shreaded ears is a hound with battle scars. later, Andy
The home of TOPPER AGAIN bred biggame hounds.
