I wouldn't get carried away messing with the house cats , all my dogs will tree squirrel in the day, very rarely at night unless it just got dark, as they get older they quit the squirrle, i just send them on, but i like to start alot of my real youg dogs that way.

I dont take a dog hunting myself at all until there a year old, and rarely but sometimes14-15 months old.

good luck with your dogs

Way to go on get'en your pups out and working with loading, leading and crossing fences. I think that is very cool you are working with them on the basic's... Be sure to give them time to be pup's...

I dont know what its like were you live, but in my neck of the woods there are alot of ferel cats if i didnt break my dogs of them its probably all i would ever catch day or night. so if you dont want to catch them at night i would stop messing around with em all together. I believe you can teach those dogs to do (hunt) what ever you want them to and any way u want them to do it. you just got to be consistent and stick with it.
