hunting in arkansas

i am new at this sport, and wanting to if you have to have snow to tree a cat. and how to get my hound on a track, what kind of thing do i need to look for if there isnt any snow

i'll jump in on this one, no you dont need snow but in ark.& oklahoma it does help. to me its way easier to jump and run a cat in the kind of snow we get, may not be true where it gets colder and the snow is harder. you can spot a cat track in the dirt along side a dirt road with a little practice, if you cant, then try and learn cat terrain where you live walk your dog on cat tracks and if it wants to go let it. there is alot more to it but that should keep ya busy for now. If your snow has not melted over there and i am sure it hasn't yet go find some cat tracks now and that will help ya. i walk with my dogs until they strike when it's snowy cause the other cat hunters are beating the roads and i find alot of cat sign to far off the road for there dogs to pick up on. plus most of the guys i know arent killing cats just treeing them like i am and the cats learn to avoid those roads where they get ran alot. hope that helps alittle. There is an EXPERT COUPLE OF FELLAS who are from arkansas who might chime in, if they do forget every thing i just said and listen to them cause when they speak i copy there post and am collecting the info for a reference catalog Maybe when i win the lottery i can talk them into writting a book about cat hunting, Think i will call it " THE CAT MASTER"
