Contact the California Fish and Game Commission

Post by RIFLEMAN »

Hello All,

It is vitally important that the California Fish and Game Commission know how important it is that the California Department of Fish and Game’s proposals for bear hunting be adopted. Please take a few minutes to make your opinion known; I strongly recommend using ALL of the methods I have provided so as to inundate them with our position.

Here are some guidelines I suggest:

1. Be respectful and courteous. Address them professionally by referring to their title such as, “President Kellogg,” “Executive Director Carlson,” or “Commissioner Sutton.”
2. Keep your comments concise and to the point.
3. Focus on the science behind the recommendation that the bear harvest numbers be increased, the added safety that GPS will provide to dogs, the DFG studies that prove that recovery equipment does not harm the population, the fact that our neighboring states do not prohibit the use of GPS, the fact that GPS does not make the pursuit of bear any easier for the dog, etc.
4. Avoid incorporating any emotion; be factual.
5. Avoid at all costs any threats or ultimatums. We want to convince them-not coerce them-of our position.
6. Use spell check at the end of your comments to make sure you have made no grammatical errors.

The Commission can be contacted via the following:

If we ever hope to get some of what we lost back, we are going to have to learn how to play the game. If you don't like it, thats tough, by taking the aditude of F.... em
we are doing there job for them and that is how they want us to react!
Ignorance and not getting involved is the biggest enemy to a Houndsmen!

I know a lot of you that live in other states and come hunt cali in the fall. You are a big part of this as well. Please take five min. of your time to do this, this is a big deal for California hunting. This is a huge leap forward if we can get what we are asking for. I sat in on the commission yesterday and I tell you what, I think some of these guys really want to do the right thing, it is up to us to stand together and ask. There is no Harm in asking. Please participate.

Well said Bigfoot. If your in it for the joy of the dogs working you will perserve your hunting grounds. If you tree 10 coons in one tree and shot all 10 you managed to get one training lesson to your dogs. If you take one now you have 9 more training session for your dogs. It's not about our ego's it's about enjoying the sport of hounds.

I'd like to through out a big thanks to Plott Proud and everyone who was down in Sac. Thurs. fighting for us.

Thanks again
Kurt

I couldn't agree more, the more that you kill the less you can run tomorrow. I think as hound hunters we really need to be aware of game management to make sure there is game for the next generation to run.

Bigfoot wrote:I want to start by saying I've known Rifleman the better part of his life. (Radar) for you to sit there and run your mouth behind a computer screen makes me sick! Rifleman is the last person you would ever want to play in jeopardy. I can tell by the way you write you are new to the dog world. You are burning bridges real quick. If I was running this web page you would be voted off the island for your dumba$$ remarks! You are part of the problem not the solution!
You sit there and post pictures of a pile of dead coons on your dog box thinking that impresses seasoned houndsmen "well it doesn't". It makes me sick. I'm not against killing a coon but I'm against killing every coon you tree. Then you turn around on other posts want information on places to coon hunt on the delta. Good Luck with that! The days of the killem' all boys are OVER! Don't fight your help. There are about a dozen guys and gals working to make it possible for you to go out and do your hunting. So show some respect for those that are helping you. I hope someday you see the light or just hang it up, because right now all your doing is harming the houndsmen and houdswomen of California.

Well said bigfoot.

I also agree, well said bigfoot. I would also like to thank Irv, and Dale and everyone else who works so hard to keep our hounds in the woods. Radar, it probably is better you don't go to any of these meetings or actually fight to keep our hunting.

Oh man what did I say in those two sentances that was so bad......If it was the spell check remark, it was took the wrong way.it was about my self and how i spelled "pothetic". I know i have the spelling of a 7th grader.

Losen up your belts a little bit....Sorry for pissin ya'll off so bad and bigfoot I'm glad you don't run this site cuz you would probly kick half the people off for posting pictures demonstrating how proud they are of what either them or there dogs did on a hunt.Next time don't just look at the pics maybe read whats there also.On mine you would have read that those are swamp coons, which means nothing but water and tules were I'm at.95% of my hunts end with ground catches, trees are rare as hell.Think about it next time you unleash all your remarks.

How ever, if I offened you or any budy else on here SORRY...................

Radar, I'm not offended :D We should just be more willing to help out those that are working so hard to keep our sport alive. I think anything we say can give the anti's more fighting power. Do you live in Tehama Co.? I think I've seen your truck in RB. (from your pics on the coon hunting page)
