Hound Drive Benefit for Devin Staker

Post by Rockcreek »

As many of you know, Mr Pacojack(Devin Staker) had his house burn down a while ago and lost several dogs in the fire. He and his families needs have been well met, by generous Houndsmen and Women along with Sportsmen and Women alike.

I am asking for anyone that has a young hound or two to donate, that they do so. I will help coordinate these donations as this is the last thing Devin needs. As many know, Devin is a Government hunter and needs good young dogs to run on bear this spring. He has a few lead dogs and needs a bunch of dogs to be able to make packs with, to run through out the year.

Devin is the last guy that would ask for this help, but circumstances being what they are, the need is there. He doesn't have much money as things are and could use some prospects to help get him back on track with bear season closing fast.

Please only dogs that will go, no culls needed as time is of the essence.

Thanks for reading,
God bless.

Dont take this wrong but why does a man need free dogs cuz his house burned down. I would think there are more important things needed than dogs.

I don't know Devin personally, but being a Gov't hunter, I would imagine dogs are a major part of his livelyhood.... kinda like a mechanic needs tools....

I would have to agree with AZDOGMAN. Again, i feel for Devin and his family, but I dont see how free dogs will benefit him unless he turns right around a sells them. Now if he lost half of his dogs in the fire and i just didnt catch that part, then i would completely understand.

Mason if I had a extra dog to spare, I would in a heart beat....

Az and Drew, Chasin is right, its what Devin and his son do for a LIVING, not just sport.

I dident understand either, I thought it was just the house dogs too, till Poser said something....

Hey guys I have never hunted with Devin but have been in contact with him alot if you have a hound or pup that you are not in need of and will make the grade and dont have a place for it, get it to Devin trough Jason or Mason, and I will just about bet if it isnt what he needs he is honest enuogh to let you know and will do his best to make it good with you. Devin if you are reading this come hell or high water i will get a Nance pup to you in hopes it will lift your spirit and show you the light  :beer :beer Later. Andy

Paco told me his biggest problem was bears, outfitters kelp the lions thined down.

you can't set a snare for a bear, you can but don't work good.

Ike wrote: I've known three or four Government trappers around here and none of them ever had a working pack of hounds. Most of them have had a couple coyote dogs and are good trappers who rely on a kill and setting a snare, but I've never known one with a pack of bear or lion dogs..........

ike
I never said anything about a Gov't trapper. Devin, along with several other people in the west are Gov't Hunters. Some paid by the state's game and fish dept, some paid by the Federal Gov't. Every Gov't hunter that I know, or have heard of has 20+ dogs. There are even a couple of Federal Gov't Hunters in Arizona on the Jaguar research team, listed as qualified houndsmen......

This got way off topic, sorry.... just struck me as unusual that someone that has been in this sport for as long as Ike hasn't heard of or known a gov't hunter with hounds... :?:

You better not tell these government trappers around here that you can't snare a bear cause they've been doing it forever.............fact is damn near every bear they kill is by a snare!
