I'm thinking about buying one in the next day or to, right now I run Johnson collars and a Quick track 6000 I just don't know if its worth the money or not. I'm afraid of the range.

I hunt in WV, and I was telling my buddies where the dogs were all season. Had no clue where I was half the time, but gave them directions on where to go.

I personal DEAF houndman, and hunt 12 trips in Idaho recently winter time on my permit and I went by myself MOST of the times and treed some good size cougars and I havent killed one yet Whole that I treed and I released all Looking for bigger than 180ish No luck yet. I have bring whole my dogs home safe. I thank G.M Collars. One of BEST! I sometime lost signal and I use other Tracking Radio and find directional and help me better idea to go over and Gps got picked up signal and got myself better chance to get up to TREE!
I thank the company who made this Gps and Collars make me want go hunting MORE and MORE!

More you practice with GPS the BETTER hunting! I suggest you to give one collar with your frined running all over mountain and hide it and you could practice with those trails and learn how it could made you better experience!

We use them in VT and have had great luck. they do lose signal now and then but usually only for a minute or two. For us we hunt after work alot and being able to know exactly where the dogs are as dark approaches saves us alot of late nights or early mornings before work searching for dogs if they don't tree. We usually run a marshall on lead dog incase they happen to tree in bad signal because they may not come back if they arent moving. But so far that hasnt happened either.

The Garmin gps is by far better than any radio telemetry tracker that I have ever owned. And I have had several over the years. You need to buy the long range antenna because without it the range is not over a mile. With the long range antenna the range is several miles. Battery life is the biggest drawback with the garmin.

I run Innotek telementry collars with a DC-20 piggy backed on. The Telementry system rarely leaved the truck.
