Re: QUESTION ABOUT ENGLISH COON HOUND
there are a couple of breeders who raise some excellent english hounds. if this is your first hound spend the time to assure that you are getting what you want and need in a hound. this doesn't mean only someone's word on it. unless you are willing to ship don't be a stickler for color and you will probably find the hound that can do what you want under a different skin close to home but if your close to one of the good english breeders go for it.

TBICE
You had better closely examine your country that you will be hunting and your purpose for being in the woods before you set your heart on the type of Hounds you are going to acquire!
Being somewhot familiar with Arkansas and where you are, Potlicker (Coon Hound type trailing Dogs) are going to have you very frustrated with Bobcats. You will strike and trail, jump, tree and put very few on the Dog Box. Youre Country is too bad to be successful consistantly.
Also be careful about the advise you get. This, like mine is always well intentioned and appropriate for the Country that the Hunter giving the advise is used to Hunting!
The Best thing for you to do is to go Hunt with a Successful Cat Hunter in similar Country to what you will be hunting. Marion Graham is not far away and has been there and done that with Potlickers. You can send me a PM and I will give you his #.
If you just want to spend time in the Woods with nice Hounds Coon Hunt! You may tree an occasional Bobcat and catch one now and then, and you will not be as frustrated. You can find Good Coon Hounds at an affordable price. Good Cat Hounds are rare, for sale evern more rare, for Sale at a price that a working man can afford about like getting a date with Jessica Simpson! The Hound you see for sale here and elsewhere are for sale for a reason and it usually ain't a good reason!
Just my thoughts!
