Is it possible to reinstall confidence in a dog that has been beat by a bear???

A friend of mine told me houndsmen are some of the bigger liers there are when it comes to selling dogs and telling stories, so Im not too suprised. That really sucks man! I dont know what I would do if I lost that much money, probably drive down to Colorado and start knocking on some doors. Dont get me wrong though, a lot of houndsmen are honest and great people to deal with but some are just in it to make money and that is it, kind of like a car salesman! Hopefully you can get ahold of him or find some way of getting your money back, maybe small claims court?

As you can see I have pretty much given up. It would be a 30 hour straight drive from here. I gave the hound away to a young fella just starting out on coon. It wouldn't be right asking money for a half fast dog. The only advice I can give is to always watch the dog run more then once if at all possible, because you will only get the good references from the seller...

When spending thousands of dollars on a dog, one should spend a little more and go see the dog do what it is said to do. Patience pays off in the end. If a seller gives excuses as to why they can't show you the do in the woods, by itself, look elsewhere. Sometimes you might not even like a dog that does what a seller says it will do.

I'm afraid that doesn't apply to just this forum. I've been burned by newspaper ads and other online classifieds. I had a buddy who was burned by an ad in Full Cry. Always know what your buying before you take it home. If at ANY time your unhappy with the deal or situation, walk away. I hate to say it but the days of trusting a man on his word are over and it's a damn shame it has to be that way.

I know nothing about this but i see this all the time, I just have one question for you that raises a red flag for me! COLORADO DOES NOT ALLOW BEAR HUNTING!!! This doesn't excuse what happens, I just have been doing dog deals forever and certain things give me red flags! I wouldnt buy a lion dog from arkansas, you might look at areas that have the same hunting as you! now i'm not saying that you can't get a good bear dog from Montana, Oregon or Washington but i would really check the source out before i bought a dog. I bet there are 25 houndsmen around cortez that would know this guy if he's a prominant houndmen and maybe they won't vouch for his character but they would know if he hunts hard and catches game and if he does then your chances are good that you would get a dog that would suit you! I understand it sucks and you should take a man on his word but for everyone read between the lines, when they say the tires should last you threw the summer it means they are bald! A mechanics special usually means it can go to the scrap yard! JMO

I guess will call it just another learning experience
I, researched this for months I didn't mind spending the money on what I needed to do to keep my pack going considering there are very few big game hounds in Ontario. I am a dedicated bear hunter. All I needed was one dog to hold my pack together. This fella has big game videos out and as far as I knew he wasn't a dog peddler. I'm in business for myself. My word is everything. I live do live in a small community, it has to get done right or there's no charge! Or business goes else where. As they say "such as life". I'm not going to dwell on it! But if I can help other houndsman I will.
