the first reply is?

Post by loaded4bear »

I notice that almost every clasified second post is where are you located. Just an idea but how about telling where you are LOCATED when advertising something. (my little pet peeve) maybe I've been locked up to long. Were is the sun shine?

I'm with you on that one, my pet peeve also. I'd like to see authors of every post have their location listed. JMO

Like ive said before, make the location field mandatory when joining, dosent have to be a exact location, just state or general location within a state

See Tessa Im not the only one who has a problem with it.

Everyone also wants pics if its dogs or pups for sale. Never understand why people post hounds for sale without pics

That should help a little. All new users have to put it in, and any of the old member will need to update their profile to put in the state and names.

I'll probably try to force re-activations some time in the future.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink! I just looked at the classified ad's with specific information, as well as the city and state located on the user's information, and people still ask where they are from! People say if you want pics, I can email, and people ask for them to post pics! I don't have the patience to add files with my computer on these boards, but I can email them no problem. Also, if a person has a good reputation as a houndsperson, a pic of the animal shouldn't matter. I don't care if a dog is PINK as long as it hunts, and I won't buy a dog simply by looking at the picture. There will definately be some phone conversation, as well as possibly hunting with the dog before the sale.

Just my opinion,

I think people want a picture of the dog most of the time so they aren't wasteing there time. Sometimes you can tell what kind of care the dog has had by looking at a picture, is knee deep in poop, skinny or rubbed raw from no bedding. I know that there is no gaurantee that the dog in the picture is the one for sale. I am not going to waste my time calling somebody and talking for a hour or driving 1000 miles to get there and the dog isn't what they said. If it is tied up in my back yard it must hunt, but I must also be able to stand to look at it.
I would like to see a standardized form to fill out for dogs for sale that included

breed
sex
price
location
general info on dog
Phone number or easiest way to get a hold of the seller
When I am in the market for a dog (like now) I spend two to three hours of each day looking on the different forums for what I am looking for if the ad doesn't contain at least the information listed above I skip it and move on to the next.

Be careful though...

If you put your phone number, anyone can get it, on this site or thanks to google, anywhere..

I have had numerous people who need their @$$'$ beat for calling me, from restricted numbers, and wanting to talk about stuff not very appropriate.

If anyone knows a Chris Roberts from Utah, be sure to smack him around a little will ya!?
