Good days with bad endings

Post by DesertDawg »

My son and I decided to take the dogs out for a late morning run. We headed into a canyon we have been watching just to keep the road open. On the way up my watchful eyes weren't working to well cause I trying to keep us on the road and not in a ditch or into a tree. On the way out we cut a track and decided we had better make a go of it. We headed down and over into the next canyon to turn out. The track looked like crap and it was headed into a burned out sidehill through the rocks. It was almost 1pm when I started turning dogs out. It was pretty slow going until the dogs hit the top of the ridge and I heard them blow up. We grabbed our stuff and headed up the ridge. When we topped out I could hear the dogs already treed. We then proceeded to hike what seemed like five miles out of our way to get phone sevice to let the wife know we were going to be later than expected. Finally we make it to the dogs with a cat in the tree and start pulling out cameras to take a few pics. The cat gets nervous and proceeds to jump right in the middle of the dogs. It was on. I'm throwing things off to get to the chains to get the dogs shut down before I have stretched cat. I get most of the older dogs chained and the cat finally makes it into another tree. Once the excitment died down I get a chance to check out the damage. I have one dog acting funny and after checking her over she has an eye gone. My psycho dog has broke the transmitter off her tracking collar somewhere. (She broke it falling out of the first tree). We let the dogs tree for a while then chained em up and headed back for the truck. When we fianlly get out to the mouth of the canyon I get a phone call from my wife. My son and daughter were coming home from a tubing trip and tipped my blazer over. Wow, what else can go wrong. Well I come home to put some pictures on the computer and tell my fun story and my computer gets a virus and melts down. Isn't life grand. But hey I finally caught a cat. :D Good Times...........DD

Nice pics! I made my dad's '78 Bronco look like that when I was seventeen. He was not impressed. In fact while the family went on vacation, I stayed home to work so I could pay the deductible. :?

sorry so many things went wrong for you that day, but i'm glad you had a positive attitude and seen the good that happened. You treed a lion and nobody got killed in the blazer , life is good. On a side note, I've learned to never say "what else can go wrong", cuz you might find out if you ask that question. Be safe and have a great day

Nice to see you made it off the couch buddy..... I am suprised you actually posted this, thought i was gonna have to harrass you the rest of the year to get a pic.

Does it suprise you that when you have a dog named phsyco bad thing happen during a hunt? You should be use to it by now. Keep her on the ground before she looses an eye or breaks a leg. Atleast til we get a litter of pups outta her.

Thanks for posting buddy, keep after em'
I'm thankful for being dumb and slow, then i don't have to over think this stuff.

Best of wishes....
