First Day WV bear Season
Getting ready to head out. 50 degrees which is about all that is good. 30-50 mph wind, trees across all the main highways. Not to mention the dirt roads. snow advisory for later and tonight. And to top it all off, my gyp is in heat.
Ya'll enjoy your day.

Nice bear Charlie. Don treed a sow and two cubs yesterday and a sow and three cubs today and my dumb ass is sitting here at the computer. He called me at about 10:00 am to rub it in. They had dogs gathered up and were looking for a shooter last I heard. Don found a bunch of grapes left over and it sounds like the bears are stacked up. I'll be hunting here Saturday and Boone County Sunday, but I'd still like to get up and run with you next week sometime if I can work it out. I'll let you know. Good luck.

We blew it today. Dogs went through the river and bayed up. we thought they were still on our side so Jeff and I worked to the river face and after a couple hard hours figured out they were across. Sent a few guys around and they got in above them about an hour before dark, could hear them, we could hear them from across the river. as they were working down on them they quit and went to the river and came out about dark. Dogs couldn't have done any better. Hunters screwed that one up including myself. Long cold wet day. Just give me a call when you want to come up. Good Luck

I got to hunt on Tuesday and we had a great time. Got one in the tree about 0930. It was about 230 lbs. Got the second bear in the tree about 1500. It was about 150-160 lbs. Starting to get alot of snow. They are calling for 3-5 inches in the mountains and 2-4 in the lowlands. It should be good hunting on Thursday. Hope I get to get out of work and hunt.

Had an old snowed in track this morning, dogs couldn't run it so we worked him out ourselves. got him jumped and dogged. After a pretty quick race he was high in the tree.
The guy that killed the bear did it from beginning to end. In there with me on his belly working that old track through the pines. When we were done we were really wet and a little cold, But another good day. Will was proud and real glad they called school off when they did.
