bite wounds and tore ears

two of my bitches decided to go their rounds this morning when I wasn't home and now I'm dealing with their mess. I get that putting neosporin on a wound is good.. my question is if there are too many wounds to deal with, whats the next best thing? All my dogs live outside & sleep in some not so perfect houses, when they aren't laying in their dirt holes. How should I keep dirt & what have you from messing it up until they heal? I noticed this morning about 7 and it's now, 3:30 and her ears still bleeding pretty good.

Super glue, Goldbond mixed with cornstarch are few things that can help

blu kote or red kote from the feed store.
both these stain, so are not for house dogs.

you could also put some emt gel on to speed healing.

flour or styptic powder to stop bleeding. Ears are
difficult because every time the dog shakes its head,
the wound opens up. You can try pinning the ear to
the dogs head with vet wrap, but most hounds will
remove the bandage unless you put one of those
stupid-looking plastic Elizabethan collars on.

I would use the flour to stop the bleeding then maybe try super glue on the end of it (the ear).. Never tried it before but I dont' see why it wouldn't work...

Just clean out the wounds and I would just use the neosporin unless you have some furizone you can use on it...

Watch them.. Penecillin if they get infected...

Clean wounds with betadine and use some blu kote. Should be enough for those kind of wounds and if you are worried about infection then use penicillin. You can usually find this stuff at a horse supply store. I would also think about having a vet trim the jagged tear in the ear smooth so it won't be prone to tear again.

No worries! Hell, the ear will stop bleeding when the dog runs out of blood. HaHa just kidding. I like the super glue. I've had good luck with it many times on myself. If it's good enough for me it's good enough for my dogs. Just clean it up real good before you put the glue on. Also make sure you don't glue your finger to the dogs ear (that stuff dries fast).

Take Shortys advice, I would just about bet he has glued his fingers to his dogs ear before just kidding Shorty. Ears always bleed bad but its along ways from the heart a shot of antibiotic wouldnt hurt a thing either. later, Andy

I've had dogs beat and chew each other up to where Rocky Balboa would have thought his swollen noggin was nothin to complain about. Spray the wounds with peroxide for a few days, and if they are bad enough give them 2 cc's of pennicillan under the skin for a few days. They don't look too severe, Believe me I've had dogs chewed up by each other that looked worse and they don't hardly have a scar to show what they earned from the fight.

Theres a product called " wonderdust". Its a powder blood clotting agent. works quite well on bleeding ears. You can find it a many feed stores. There are 2 different ointments that come in either a large toothpaste type tube or tub. Ones called " Carona" and the other is furazone. All these products can be found in the equine section and have worked quite well for me time and again.

Have a vet trim the torn ear and apply appropriate dressing.
Wash the wounds with chlorohexadine 3% or 4% sol twice daily x 3 days, then once daily prn. Try to keep the wounds clean, provide clean bedding.
Antibiotics x 7 days asap........it's cheap insurance.
Keep your dogs kenneled apart if that's when the scrap happened, or eliminate the cause of the fight ie; food, bone laying around, toy, etc.
