Dog Box idea

Post by M Evertsen »

I made this dog box a little over a year ago. I have since repainted the frame, and repaced the plywood. This spring when it warms up a little bit, it will get a new coat of paint that is a light green. It is just primed right now, which has worked fine for the winter. The top 6" of the box on the sides and back are removable to air/rigging holes. I also built the upper part as a removable rig/utility rail. It works good for holding my tire chains. I have about 100 feet of 1" by 1/16" square tubing and probably 40 feet of 1/2" square tubing in the set-up. I used locking t-latches for the doors, and had to put one more vertical piece inside in order to allow room for the latches, plus attach a piece of strap for the latches to catch on. The total size of the box is 3x4' by 22" tall. I have it attached to the truck using two turnbuckles. I can fit my 4 dogs comfortably in the box. Two of them are about 65 lbs. The other are about 50 and 40 lbs.
