Line Breeding

Post by TRW »

So the topic is nutered dogs and and alot of good input was brought forth. But i know there is alot of older folks that realy put forth time in line breeding a group of dogs. I would like to hear alittle about how close is to close. Is it like chickens and you can go hog wild and end up with the best cock or do they get deformed. Will they get radical, and loose the desire to trail, tree, or what? Are Dogs better now or were they better then.

With proper selection you can go a lot tighter than most will tell you, I'm sure

However the key words here are proper selection. The style of breeding one uses is nothing more than a tool and is secondary to the selection process.
