Okeechobee Hog Hunt Three Weeks ago

Postby Jamison559 » Mon Dec 03, 2007 12:59 pm

Here are a couple of pics from my clubs hog hunt a couple of weeks ago. I don't have a lot of time to post many pics right now, but I will keep putting up some as I get time. We in all took six hogs. Three with knives, 1 with a bow, 1 with a rifle, and 1 with a handgun. We hunt with Rock Hill Hunting Preserve which is just south of Okeechobee on the west side of the Lake. Great time. The dogs caught the hogs in about the worst spots usually. Once in the water and the other in the thickest stuff possible. It was still a blast. Sorry if the photos aren't in order of kill. I am in the camo shirt, i am pretty sure my hog was the biggest.

I am around Starke in between Gainesville and Jacksonville. We don't have neer as many hogs as the South Florida area, but we still go several times a week. I am loving this wheather. They are moving good.

I am heading back down in about 3 weeks to do some bass fishing. My grandmother has a place in Leesburg on the Harris Chain. Hope the weather stays nice.

I live not far from your grandmother in North Lake county.

I used to hog hunt about 2-3 times per month in Okeechobee. My Ex father in law lives and ranches about 2 miles from Rock hill. I know a few of the guys there.
I mostly hog hunt around central florida. Mostly catch and tie.

Yall dog hunt up there?

We just coon hunt with dogs here in Indiana, cant run deer and, no hogs up this way, do a lot of deer and turkey hunting up here. I have been looking so hard to find someone around lake county that hog hunts, we are down there about 4 times a year, and i wanted to meet someone that did it just to tag along every once in a while when they were going, so if you or anyone you know wouldnt mind a tag along, I would greatly appreciate it, I would be willing to take someone bass fishing as well on a trade and maybe could work out some hunting in Indiana, if interested, would have to talk with a couple of landowners.
When fishing around the Harris Chain, we have seen some hogs, but not too many, mainly on the south end of the lake in Little Lake Harris, and also seen some on the Apopka beauclair canal. I didn't know if people hunted much around there or not. My grandma's place is right off of dead river.
