Cat dogs that looks awesome in my opinion. I was going to pay to get one welded up out of aluminum but after seeing yours Im thinking ill just build a steel frame and sheet it with that aluminum checkerplate I just happen to have laying around. Im gonna look into some of those marine covers as well, I think there a great idea for controlling your ventilation. Would you be able to post the dimensions of your box and how many dogs it holds comfortably? Also, could you elaborate any on the set up for your skis, how they attach etc. With the deck im putting on my truck we can actually haul 2 sleds and a dog box. Looking forward to haveing everything for two guys on one rig finally! Thanks

Box is 30 x 48 and fits 4 big dogs easily. There are more pictures of my sled trailer on the snowmobile dog box thread on this board. I just welded a 3" piece of round rod to the bottom of the straps where it makes the "v" and ran a bolt through the holes on each ski and the round rod. Light tubing steel frame boxes with aluminum skin will only differ form staright alum. boxes in weight by a few pounds. I used 1" x .065 thick steel tubing and riveted teh alum. skin on.
the only differenent thing I would do (and have since done) is widen the stance of the skiis on the trlr to match that of the sled by angling the "v" strape outward instead of having them straight under the sled.
The deck plates are great for ventilation. I use the same dog box to haul the dogs when sledding and also on the truck. Personally, I don't think John Westons box has enough ventilation for warm days or a couple of "hot" dogs - JMO

Nice looking rig, also John, I would suggest more holes, and screen over the ones you have for soft snow. Three or four dogs, will not be getting enough air, trying to help you. LOLJohn Weston wrote:Look here's mine no hole's or duct tape.

It works great the way it is when its cold,but on warm spring days it gets a little warm. In two feet of powder it stays bone dry and that is what I was after. It is 80lbs and I carry 3 dogs in it. The balance of the sled is more important than the wieght of it.
