DerekE and others interested in Fox and Rabbit Pens.

Derek since you and I talked I have found that the folks who have Rabbit and Fox Pens in TX are becoming even more secretive than before. The Pens are not against the Law in TX, however the Antis are causing every one problems!

If you want to find one to use, try to find a Pro Beagler and get in good with him to find a rabbit pen to start little pups. If you establish a rapport you will proabably be able to use his for a small fee.

The Fox Pens that are large and where Field Trials are held will not work. Starting pens should be resonably close to most hunters, but may require a little detective work to find. It will require more politicing than the Rabbit pen and a larger fee but as high as Gas is it is worth it to take the older Pups two or three times which is all they should need!

The Pens that we use cost a total of about $2,500.00 to build. Wild Rabbits are harder to trap than the Grey Fox but both can be done and some fun had while doing it. In TX contact the TPWD about rules. In other states the Fish and Game or the Dept of Agriculture will regulate the Pens.

Hope this helps someone!
