A good rule for winches is to buy the biggest you can afford and bigger is better.

warns have worked well for me. also bigger is better and long reach is a plus if you are in some open country.

Warn! I really like the kind on a receiver so you can pull either way. I 've pulled backwards as much if not more than forwards. I think mine is an XD 9000
