I love spring hunting.
Re: I love spring hunting.
I agree with you Mike Leonard whole heartedly. We have had spring like conditions up here in montana since the end of January and have been roading and casting dog for the most part for a couple months. Our very dynamic temperature swings and diverse terrain make for some challenging races but really lets you see where the dogs are at. Absolutely love the spring conditions. Our season ends April 14 and there are a lot of years when we don't get to hunt but a few weeks of dirt. But this season has been tough but rewarding in it's own ways. My 7 and 8 year old girls(some tough little hikers
) have been able to be with me. When no deep snow to trudge through and the warm afternoons to take a nap with the dogs on a south face in an old growth pine stand make it a lot of fun for me and the kids. Also been able to get the horses out and access some canyons that are usually just out of reach in roadless areas this time of year. The critters and plants all just have the signs of renewal and rebirth. Every day out is a good day!
