Is that the old nightrider blood? I hunt with a guy that has a pack that is heavy night rider on the top and trackdown on the bottom abd they get the job done. they're fast and always in the mix. not to mention they are some sleek well built dogs. hope this helps

Well i hunt all ruby swamp black and tans and they are doing awsome. These are the fastest starting houngs i have ever owned! they do everything for me. Good tree dogs, true rig dogs, gritty enough to hold a bear, smart enough to cold track bear from over nite. I have been looking for something a little different to breed with my dogs! I thought about getting one of those nighthawk dogs. My old man used to own one of those dogs except it was night rider back when vince murphy owned them! He said it was the best coon dog he has ever owned! but thats cause he doesnt get into running bear! lol! but if you get one let me kno how it does cause i might consider on getting one myself!
Hunting with hounds is not a hobby its a disease!

i know this is a real old post but i ran across it the other day. vince murphy still has nightrider/wagner bred dogs at his northern nightrider kennel. he is in wisconsin. the white family in iowa has the nighthawk kennel that is also wagner bred dogs. james headrick in elijay, georgia also has black dogs that go back to this old nightrider/hans wagner stuff. art hunziker's dogs in illinois also trace back to these lines. all four of these bunches have concentrated on line breeding their dogs and keeping as much of that old stuff as they can. hans wagner has been dead for a long time and nightrider himself died about 60 years ago, so anybody that claims to have this blood is meaning that it is way,way back in the bloodlines nowadays, but i have heard good things about the black dogs from all 4 of these sources.
