It seems to me that fast dogs make a coyot run fast and slow dogs make a coyot run slow those dang yotes just try to stay in front of the dogs so you need something with stamina

I think a good fast dog that puts a lot of pressure on any game can get it caught on dry ground or snow. pic is of 2 caught friday in just a small amount of snow. I catch about half as many on dry ground as on the snow but still catch a fair share.

Run a coyote long enough and anything puts them to bay.KC from this site seems to catch a lot with his redbones and i dont think his snow gets too deep. Just good dogs that put the pressure on.

conditions always play a big part in catching yotes, the more snow the more you will catch if you have good hounds. i know nycoyotehounds catches alot more than i do, but he gets a heck of alot more snow than i do. we do shoot most of our yotes, but we do catch some too. my redbones caught 2 this weekend in 4-6 inches of snow and we shot another. we mostly run only 1-2 hounds at a time also, so it makes it a little bit tougher to do. we do catch yotes on dry ground too, but that does not happen to often.

one thing to remember is be it a running hound or a tree hound a dog can only run as fast as it`s nose can take them.

I agree with you guys, my dogs are pace setter style of dogs. I expect them to run a track well, have a little above average speed, fight very hard, and bay a little if they cant finish the job. I havent shot a yote in about 10 years, dont get as many as some guys but do better than most, but the dogs are expected to do EVERYTHING short of finding the track to put them on ( well a little of that at times as well) Any one of my finished dogs can run a coyote alone, but every one of them needs help to finish one off( most yotes)
