Right, when I picked up Sam and Trapper as pups there was also a little bluetick female littermate. Good looking little dog.
She got sick shortly after I got her home, like the next day. I took her over to Nebo Animal clinic and they told me there was nothing wrong with her and sent me home. She died two days later.
Some locals around here make fun of Dr. Porter and say they would never take a dog to him. I've never had a dog die in his care and he's saved a couple that didn't look like they'd make it through the night.
The only dog I've had just up and die on me was that pup, after Nebo told me the dog was fine.

So ya, I did have a little female littermate for about two or three days.
I ended up with a male and three females out of that last batch Kirk had. Willy was the mother and I think the father was maybe out of Ripper or one of Kirk's other dogs, I forget. But I still have a bluetick male, a little bluetick female and a red female that was Kirk's pup he kept, then later gave to me. The other little female belongs to a buddy of mine down in Delta. I probably should have kept her. Oh well.
I have a little female dog I got from a buddy in Oakley and I was going to take and cross her with Kirk's Red dog this spring... but she had some health problems a few weeks ago and needed to be spayed, so she won't be having any pups.
So instead I'll probably cross this red female I have from Kirk to a nice male dog my buddy owns. I'm not much of a breeder but my buddy really wants to try and keep this line alive somehow so we'll see.
If it don't work I got about three more good years out of these older dogs and then it will be the end of an era for me. That damn Kirk was supposed to keep getting pups to me.

If it's left up to me, I ain't smart enough and will probably end up hunting half Lab half Collie dogs here in a couple of years and wondering why I can't catch anything.
