Re: Dogo argentino
This is just my opinion on hog dogs versus bear dogs. Hogs can not tree. Bears can. Bears will sit in a brush pile and grab dogs, hogs can not grab a dog. Bears will run a dog down grab a hold of them and bite them. Hogs run at them and throw their tusks at them. In my opinion dogs are way more aggressive on hogs then on bears because a bear can grab a hold of a dog and hogs can not. I have seen dogs that will grab hogs and bring them to the ground and those same dogs will stay back 10 feet from a bear and bay at it. I don't think a dog will act the same on a hog compared to a bear. Again, their is an exception to every rule, their are bear dogs that will climb up a bear and not mess with a hog, and their are hog dogs that will not perform on a bear like they would on a hog and then their is the exception that a dog will try and mount a bear like he does a hog and those are the ones that usually get themselves killed. I know a guy that hunts hogs with his bear dogs and they will flat kill a hog. But they do not bay a bear like that. He will tell you they do
, but I have dropped down in the canyons and watched that pack bay bears and they do a great job but they do not try and wolf pack the bear down to the ground like they do hogs.
