Thanks Curt, that is encouraging. I have train more than one hound that took a bunch of patience before they made tree dogs on cat, & seems those made the accurate locators. But never have I experienced one that came back to where the track began, then track me down as fast as this female. That to me shows some brains, even if it is not what I want. This female will not see as much game as those young hounds who needed patience learning to locate and stay at the tree. Will continue to work with her. Yes this female is a litter mate to the one you worked for another this winter. Al

Most running dogs that I have owned will go back to where you turned them out at. I have had them cross rivers and major roads to get there. I have one now that if he hears your rig or you he will come to you and them go back and tree. I have had him take me back to cats that were killed on the ground. Try to see things from the dogs perspective not our expectations as to how it should be, it will be a lot easier to correct a problem that we can't live with. Dogs do what dogs do. Dewey

No they don't all make it. I always ask myself when one does not make it "was it the breeding or did I make a mistake with the dog,or just not being able to communicate to them what I want" It's fairly easy to train a coon or bear dog but to only run bobcats they just all don't make. Dewey

Very true, that's why I posted. Thinking for days how to correct this, one would need to hunt with her to realize how fast she can get back to where the track started, and if I have moved track me down. Buzzing her would work only if I was at the tree, other wise she would only speed up coming back, and she stays once I reach the tree. She actually weights 38 lbs. with collars on, gets around like a squirrel. Al

I knew she would not see a lot of harvested game with me, so she is now owned by the breeder who made the cross that produced her. Sure she will make a very nice hound, under his guidance. Al
