I had an old time hunter years ago tell me, how would you like to go up on that hill being promised a lobster dinner and when you get there you cant have it. I think sometimes it helps some dogs, and others are just plain wired for sound that they dont need the kill. I do think it does help pups that havent gotten in on a bay up. But if we all killed just for our dogs to get a little fur in there mouth, we wouldnt have nothing to chase.

i think that 1-2 kills a year is as good as twenty -
-i know i cant run a dead bear again-
what good is a bear dog ,, if you cant find a bear to run-?
we have a long kill season here- 2 1/2 months - the woods are fairly small compared to most places
would be easy to hurt the population-
bear are worth more to me alive than dead -- but i still like to give my dogs 1-2 kills a year-
...I have to agree with Pete Richardson from Northern, VT. I am located in Southern, NH and I think the bear population in my area is in the low range, they are certainly few and far between. Therefore I would rather enjoy the thrill of running my dogs. It is exactly true, "I can't run a dead bear." I agree Pete, it makes them worth more to me alive than dead. Thats how I feel about this matter atleast in my area. we have a good time and that is really all that matters to me.
