Guess it Looks like I wasn't so full of shit after all about the price increase.... And my earlier predictions were correct when I said people weren't going to find the DC40's for much under 200 dollars.

The Prices on DC40's will increase about 30 dollars.

i heard that the dc 40 will be available in august but it will be a limited supply until december. the only difference that i know with the dc 40 is that you can set a pin code for your dog so that nobody else can track your dog. i currently have the dc 30 and it works great unless you hunt public land. in florida everybody has the garmin now so when you get around a bunch of other people ueing the dc 30 there are interference problems. i also heard that once the dc 40 comes out they will discontinue the dc 30. its almost woth the wait but if you are the only one hunting with a garmin in your area the dc 30 should suit your needs

One thing that I found out from Garmin Tech Support is that if 2 people are hunting together and you set the 4 digit pin # on your new DC-40 collar your hunting partner won't be able to see your dog. So therefore he is no help to you locating your dog.

BlueDogs, My understanding was the if you gave your buddy your pin number he would be able to track it also..

Don't know for sure? I was just assuming, I could be wrong,

I've got a question. I haven't had to leave a dog out overnight since I've had my Garmin but if you had to, could you change the update rate from 5 seconds to the longest setting so the batteries last longer. This would be a great feature if you could do it without having the collar next to the Astro. Or can you already do this with the DC30's?

I'm not taking orders yet,

I don't think I can have one in your hand by this time next month. there is a Chance, but I don't trust Garmin to do what they say they will do.

My suggestion is get the DC30 Combo, and Wait for the extra collars. DC30 prices are coming down, and the DC40 Prices will be up.

You'll most likely end up paying about 70 dollars more for a DC40 collar if you buy the DC40 combo. Best to save that 70 dollars and put it towards a DC40 collar later. (is that explaination clear as mud?)

The Prices on my site are not availible for the DC40, I will price match and probably Beat others prices on them..

Send me an email to mail@dugraphics.com and I'll put you on the call list when I have all the details. Although I'm not sure that I'll be able to offer the price listed, I will take care of those that are on my email list.

You can also give me a call, it's allot easier to explain rather than try and type it all out.

How many people have had this problem? I hunt with a few people that use the DC 30. I'm about to buy a Astro with 3 collars and would like your guys thought on if I should wait for the the 40 or buy the 30 now. Thanks for the help

I just spent my money on some dc30s because the changes made to the dc40 wasnt enough to warrant me waiting.

Have hunted with the DC-40,s for 4 days now and my opinion is that the 30,s are a better collar. The signals come and go all the time on the 40,s. The communication between the 220 and the 40 is good but the signal between the 40 and the sattelite is very sporadic. this is in thick brush and maybe they will work better in open country. think im gonna stick with the 30,s and save the 50 bucks JMO

I'm confused.....shocker there!

I thought that the pin number was just so no one else could CHANGE the settings on your collar, not so no one else could get reception on it. I would also love to be able to change the time intervol on the collars from a distance, but I'm afraid that it just ain't gonna happen.

I don't think so.. That's exactly what I would have like to happen with the pin feature.. but I don't think that's what it is.

And I agree, I would like to change the settings when the dogs are in the Box.. but I can't do that.. have to get out and stand next to the dog.. It's kinda annoying.

I'm really not happy with the DC40's.. I'll have them in probably next week.. Hopefully I'll be able to test them out and see if I really don't like them as much as I think I won't.. According to some that got the first couple it seams the GPS reception isn't as good as the DC30.. and Not good if a dog is in or swims in the water, (which I guess makes sense since the GPS would be under water..) .. But until I test them out myself I won't know.
