Pissin matches

Post by poser »

Why is it there are so many pissin matches on these hound sites? " I know, dumb question"

Do we as houndsmen and houndswomen think that the "superior hound" is in our backyard or our friends? If so, then why can everyone who never hunts go out and catch something?

It's not rocket science.....some dogs are better then others, some houndsmen and women are better then others and then some of us get lucky from time to time. It all works out in the wash, as long as your happy who cares?

Why are we so insecure that we think we need to "PROVE" to someone who we will probably never meet that we and our dogs are better then them? How can you really debate that? Or better question, why would you want to?

Point im tryin to get at is.... I know alot of GREAT HOUNDSMEN and better yet GREAT PEOPLE that don't get on these sites because of all the drama. You might think their loss, well it's actually our loss as houndsmen and women. They could offer so much help and information, not to mention awesome pictures to look at.

Next time you go to get into a pissin match instead of tryin to help someone just think to yourself...."Dont i have something better to do" If the answers no, then thanks for the entertainment.

Thanks to all the people that helped me get started and encouraged me to keep after it. And to the people on here tryin to help others.
I'm thankful for being dumb and slow, then i don't have to over think this stuff.

Best of wishes....

It is what keeps me from enjoying these posts. About the time you settle in and like it, someone jumps all over someone, and its on. Thanks for bringing it up, my feelings as well.

Arguments, discussions, debate, or information exchange is a good thing as long as those comments are directed at the issue on most topics poser. But what happens on every one of those issues is somebody changes their comments off the topic and onto another person in the debate, then it gets personal. If people made any attempt whatsoever to stay on topic those things wouldn't spin out of control.

I had a guy tell me when I first got into hounds that I was entering a pit of vipers and that crap would now come my way. There is a natural jealousy between any group of people, and I'm not sure that is is exclusive to hounddoggers, but never the less people refuse to respect others. Too many of us are like a gun with a hair trigger waiting to go off, and usually do after only a light tough of an attack comes our way....

Gone hunting,

I don't even open any posts that are titled "Whats the best dog for.....?" I just enjoy the pics and stories of everyone else and post a few pics of my own from time to time. This site has the most activity but I enjoy the Watering Hole much more for the freindlier atmosphere.

I read every post on here and really enjoy most of the topic's.
The problem everybody has is that they forget they are just dogs!
That's right those are Just my dogs and don't you ever even hint something bad about my dogs or question my training methods or breeding program or my hunting ethics. They are family and we treat them as such so when someone says something about your family the hair comes up and the B.S. starts.
They are just dogs!

I agree, there seem to be about 4-6 guys on here who are quite good at hijacking a guys post. When somebody talks about something in the post you don't have to jump in and ruin it. Poser, you are spot on. Well said.

Oh yeh, ignore it and it will go away....just like Hillary, Obama, gun control, anti hunting movement, PETA and all the rest of the crap that is consuming this country like a cancer. Yep...seems to work just fine and dandy...just take a look around this fine country of ours.

If a guy reads a few posts per day, in just a weeks time you'll know whos posts to browse over and whos to read.
Most of the useless stuff is contributed by guys that have next to no stories, no pictures and no insightful advice.
You have to read a bit more than a week to figure out who the self proclaimed internet houndsmen legends are though, one day my every outing will be as perfect as their worst I can only hope

The only thing these boards do for me is ocacssionally pass the time between hunts allowing me to enjoy a story or picture or two. And those enjoyments are harder and harder to find on here as of late.

I love this web site, I truly do. The pissing matches as well. Ive noticed something about houndoggers over the years. We are all dysfunctional. Myself included.

In my short 20 years of doing the dog thing Ive noticed this. There is a strange similar trait that most if not all long time hounddoggers have. Have you ever met a dry drunk? Its that onrey self richeous lack of humility and patience for others. Have you ever met somone who was obsessive/compulsive? Its somone who hunts and thinks of hunting and never stops talking about hunting all day long. Anti-social? Most of us spend way too much time in the woods. Most of us have little to no social skills because we would rather march around in the woods than anything else. Nobody else brags about how much time away from people and how much time we spend in the hills with our dogs. Does any of these traits describe you. It completely describes me. Were a small dysfunctional group of people.

I spent the entire span of my late teens and through my 20's of every moment I could in the woods. I lost jobs. I lost women. I lost a highschool diploma. I lost friends. There isnt anyone out there who understands me except mabye the people who are on this website. This website hepls me fill that gaping void that I cant fill when Im not in the woods with my dogs.

I dont think we were really ment to get along, Mabye we can just help eachother fill the void
