Loss, Sadness, and Moving On.

Post by Redwood Coonhounds »

Words can't express how I feel today, or even where to start. We lost Butch, our lead dog this morning. He died a warriors death, and we were with him his last seconds. We weren't ready for it, but he honestley died doing what he loved. I'm still shaken and don't have the stomach to attempt to describe what happened right now. Anyone thats ever lost a dog would understand, and I don't have to explain to anybody what kind of dog he was. He was a bear dog, and will remain in our memory as such.

This a deep wound, and we walk away with heavy hearts and dampened spirits. But we'll pull through and continue on.

But as one good dog passed on, we're hoping the torch was passed down. Crash will be stepping up and becoming the dog we know he can be, and two of our three 11 month old littermates we're there today shoulder to shoulder with the best dog we've known, and eye to eye with a killer.

We'll still be around in the woods, not sure how much I'll be around the message boards and such for a while.

Here's all that's left of the bear that ended Butch's life.
L to R: Buster (11mo) Crash (2y) and Aspen (11mo)
This was taken quickly, and about 30 minutes after the commotion all ended. No one was really doing much here, as we neglected to even realize and award them for a job well done.

Face we're not soon to forget.

Sorry to hear Cassandra,

Worse ways to go, than in the bush hunting. A bit too early though.
