Snow here at midnight.
Perfect bobcat hunting conditions.
Zero wind, about 3 or 4 inch of snow.
1st snow of the year.
20 degrees.
I would of started roading at midnight if I had somebody to go with me.
Cats are probably sleeping, they always do the 1st night.
Wind is suppose to come up & blow hard.
By the time one gets geared up the conditions change.
Good hunting to all.
Yippie, snow.

We got snow here in colorado as well, when I woke up there was about two feet, and its still snowing hard! Guess we will have to get the snow machines out to find a track.

I live in south central ks.
I went today after noon & did find only one track & it was to old for the dogs, & put my best 2 down, They knew he had been there, but could not run him. Sat will be 45o
so snow will be gone soon. My cat population sucks.

John,
Thanks for the chip.
The little Plotts caught & treed a cat this evening.
& they are fighters. tore him a new one.
This snow really puts the scent out so the dogs can put it on them.
With out snow it is so hit & miss with sandy roads & all. in out neck of the woods.
Talk about what can go wrong in a cat race. This cat was about to be ready to be caught.
Here is what happened a few days ago to our dogs, in a smoken hot hot cat race.
One of the dogs is a tall , lankey fox dog with a long tail.
She hit her tail on a hot hot electric fence.
She yelped & scared her so much she got the other dogs to quit the race & come to the pichup. They thought they were getting it next. If u can beat that one I would like to hear it.

Hipshooter,
I had the same luck with this fresh snow. Located three different tracks, and the dogs couldn't warm it up. They knew something had been there, and they tried following it aways, but never opened on it. I put down just one dog on the track, and tried two different start dogs. They just couldn't get it going. Finally called her off it.
I assumed the cats would be laid up during the storm as it did not subside until Tuesday night, and we still had high winds after the snow stopped. I thought they would move early morning in the calmer conditions, but all three tracks looked older, like Tuesday night.
Granted my dogs are not that experienced, but I thought they would line one out in the fresh snow. But nothing seemed very fresh.
They finally got bored with the terrible hunter who was trying to show them a fresh track, and would hardly poke their heads out of the box.
