Pelt Prices

Post by JDAWG »

How much was the most you have seen a bobcat bring? I have heard some crazy numbers just wondering if they are true.

I use to hear upwards of $300 when the price was good, now 75-100 bucks is good. From what I understand cougars are bringing in more money now due to they got by footage on cougars. Someone correct me if Im wrong

I watched them sell at a fur action 2 yrs ago for as high as 1000.00 and the average cat went for 640.00 that is the highest I have seen cats go for in all the years I have been running them.later Andy

A lot of people nowadays just seem to save them up for when the price skyrockets again and sell them all at once. I know a guy that did it and I think made over $25,000, granted he had a lot but made a killing! He traps as well as hunts with hounds

I was going to say 2 years ago we averaged a little over $1,000. I heard they were going to be around $200 this year

I hope the price drops out completly on bobcats soon, they've been high for so long know that its really knocking the populations in the dirt. Id like to see them worth less then coyotes, be really nice if coyotes would go back up too $100 or better.

Oregon only lets us nonresidents on the east side kill 5 a year now it used to 7 and I'd bet Idaho starts limiting there bobcat harvest eventually also. The kill numbers reported have gone up like 40% a year for the last 5 years from the previase year and than last year they fell like 60% so I'd bet you see a quota or something here in the future.

+1...I never understood people killing lions to sell them. With lion pops the way they are in most areas it's sure not worth it...esp a female! Last year we were selling coons a bunch and guys were getting about 150-300 for their bobcats...Curious to see what y'all end up with this year for ave prices.
