Ammo question[Paco-Jack]

Post by Arkansas Frog »

Has any body fired this ammo? 3006 55grn Accelerator round?

supposed to travel about 42 hundred feet per sec.[hot] no recoil
question- what will that do to the barrel? now that for a 30-06 deer rifle.

Paco I knew you and your son fired at a lot of varmints.
thanks for any help.

Thank you.

I have shot accelerators in 30-30 Win. Accuracy was terrible. Check a ballistic calculator
I doubt your loss in accuracy would be worth your gain in trajectory.

I have a buddy that uses them and loves them he cleans his barrel a bunch with some cleaner that will desolve the plastic from the sabot. He kills them, they are cookin down the barrel. Good luck

I dont have any experience with those rounds you mentioned but with the real high speed varmit rounds a lot of times the bullet is going so fast it ends up smacking the target sideways with awful accuracty. Ive had to tone down reloads for best results. I agree that what you might gain in trajectory isnt worth the loss in accuracy. Just what Ive experienced happy shooting!

My friend has about 40 guns, he like to shoot a lot, but he has a pace maker and the doc told if he kelp firing those high powered rounds and shot guns he was going shake the wiring loose in his pace maker,he has 17,204, 223,22-250. you name it he got it, 45-70.He wanted to try that round in his 30-06. guess he should just stick to the 204 that don't kick much and is very accurate.

I thank you guys for your reply.

Don't waste your money. I have tried the Accelerator round and they are not accurate at all. If you want a good varmint round that is 55 gr. Go buy a 220 Swift or a 22-250.

It was 3 or four years ago that I bought a couple boxes just to see what they were like. I shot the remington express ammo. They were decently accurate, but not as accurate as you could get with a bullet that is actually touching the bore in my opinion. I also had a couple rounds that the sabbot was hung up while jacking the shell in. It ruind the round, and at the price they are isn't something you like to see.

Frank Glaser killed about everything in Alaska with a .220 swift. Wasn't his weapon of choice on the griz, but he used it on em when he had to.
