wormers

Post by diesel bluehounds »

Does anyone have any old home remedies that was used to worm dogs, i have heard old timers talk about many different things but havent tried them , just wondering how they done it before there were vets.
Theres nothing better than the glow of the carbide lamp and the frost shattering sound of bluehounds in the distance.

I'm 64 years old. My Grandmother used arsonic. She started with a drop from an eye dropper and each day increased by another drop. After 3 weeks or so, the dog was slick and shiny, flees died, ticks fell off, ect. Seemed to work fine for her.

Hey Mike, I use zimectrin and have for the last 15 years and I give each dog a 50# dose once each month, that's one notch on the tube. Have a good1, Mike

sorry I did not get back sooner. Lepcur is right.... one notch will work... I usually hollow out a hotdog and put it in there. It helps the dog take it. And if you put a bit more than you planned don't worry.

A little cautious but I still give it to them. Just give them like a quarter of the dose you would give a 50 pound hound. I mean by being cautious just check in on them to make sure there are not any adverse reactions going on, some dogs like collies can not be given ivermectin the active ingr in zimectrin

Bency,
I wish there was more time in the week to hunt. I got out a few times just to let the dogs run.
