CLOSE CALL!!!

Post by Redwood Coonhounds »

We went cooning last night with a friend I've never gone with, on some of his property. Just took Aspen and my pup Gamble.

Right off the bat his dogs start something. Mine both go in there, don't say a word. We have lighted collars on em, and I can tell just by how there acting something isn't right. One of his dogs moves on out of there, while the others just wonder around lost, and eventually come back. We drive around to this dog, she sounds like she's looking at something.... Run over and shine the light and get the shock of my life...

She's got a huge PORKIE on the run! We run after her and chase the critter off. Not before she got a mouthful of quills. Then as it's running off, his other dogs come from out of nowhere and get after it!

Then the fun began and we held her down and yanked 'em out. Come to find out this wasn't this dogs first run in with a Porkie. Good to know!!

We did end up catching 3 coons afterward. And I made the point of taking Aspen down and giving her a lesson about Porcupines, just in case she had any ideas.

This dog wasn't real, "gritty" per say, she was just baying at it, and it was waddling away, so I guess not technically "running" LOL. She seen us coming and knew she was in trouble, and ran over and grabbed it once before running off.
