Young dog has been to tree... Now what?

Post by hoyter »

I have a year and a half old Blue tick. He has been to a couple of treed bears and a treed mountain lion with other finished dogs. He seems to tree well and when I walk him on a track he is very entusiastic about running it. I turned him loose on a lion track on his own once but he over shot the track and got lost. I only want to hunt lions with him. What should I do next?

Keep taking him with trained dogs.

Keep doing what you already doing.Take him with finished dogs when you can but don't hesitate to take him by himself too. There is only one way for him to get better and that is to take him to the woods anytime you can.Try to work on his handling as much as possible so he doesn't go get himself lost when he loses the track.
